President Duterte Falls in Line at Dinner, Man in Front Explains Why the President Tapped his Shoulder

President Rodrigo Duterte was seen failling in line during the fellowship dinner at the Heroes Hall of MalacaƱang Palace this Sunday, July 17. And while the president patiently waits for his turn, you can see his hand tapping the shoulder of the man in front of him. That man is lawyer, Atty. Lloyd Ismael del Socorro, who explained the president's gesture.

“I'm the lucky guy in front. I told him in the Cebuano the dialect to please go ahead. He told me he wouldn't do that; this is a free country. Then he tapped both of my shoulders to stay on the line, and whoala!” Atty Lloyd Ismael del Socorro wrote as comment to the photo shared at Presidential Communications Facebook page. Many netizens replied.

One of them said that a woman witnessed then-Davao City Vice Mayor Inday Sara Duterte (President Duterte's daughter) doing the same good trait. That time, the woman was falling in line in a local hospital in front of Inday Sara. She told the vice mayor to go ahead of her, but Inday Sara just smiled, thanked her and remained at the back of the woman.

Nevertheless, most of the commenters said that President Duterte is indeed walking his talk. A particular netizen said the president is showing leadership by example, and that all his cabinet members and other government officials should also do the same. On the other hand, another netizen admitted being touched by the president's humility.

Interestingly, this is not the first time that President Duterte following basic protocols. Just recently, he was seen submitting himself to a NAIA (Ninoy Aquino International Airport) for frisking, just like any ordinary passenger. Wearing a simple brown polo, the president raised his hand as he passes through the x-ray and metal scanners of the said airport.
